An Indian take on the quintessential British Afternoon tea. How about kick starting summer with a fun afternoon out.

Menu:

Lychee Thumka~ Iced chai with all the tropical jazz, a welcome drink to cool you off.

Bhakarwadi (V)~ A crispy fried pinwheel of sorts stuffed with a spicy, tangy mixture. This extremely popular Maharashtrian snack will wake up your senses and get you started on the Indian rendezvous

Egg puffs~ From the tea stalls of Kerala are these delicious masala eggs wrapped in flaky puff pastry. Tea and puffs are a match made in heaven.

Prawn 'n pav~ Much like Sloppy Joes, but the seafood cousin with curried prawns heaped on pillowy soft dinner rolls.

*Vegetarian option- Vada pav, the quintessential street food special of a darn good potato patty tucked in between dinner rolls, and garnished with onions and chutney.

Masala chai to spice things up a bit.

Chicken pakoras~ Very South Indian in flavour, battered and deep fried chicken pieces served with our very special chilli mayo.

*Vegetarian option- Onion pakoras served with chilli mayo

Savoury masala cheese scones (V), served warm with butter

Mithi Churi~ Kalakand & mango cheesecake

No tea is complete without macarons. Keeping the flavours for this one a surprise

Desi all the way with mini cardamom cupcakes

Brilliant ! Fabulous food, Beautiful venue and Very Attentive Hosts

My friends and I spent a lovely sunny Saturday afternoon at this beautiful venue in South Kensington where three lovely ladies hosted their #chaiparty or Indian Tea. We have been to a few afternoon teas in London so we could not wait to see what was on offer. Even though they had already published the menu and it was very good, our experience with afternoon teas was that we often felt it was rather boring.

#chaiparty was perfect! The Lychee iced tea drink with which we started our tea was a great choice for a very warm afternoon. We all had seconds and some of us wished we had the recipe too. From then on it was food and more food, each of which was very well thought of, none of them were boring or predictable in any way. The table setting, the presentation of the food, the cutlery, the very attentive hosts - everything complemented each other. Not only did we eat a lot of food the hosts were actually very kind enough to let us take home a lot more of it as well.

We left the venue already looking forward to their next supperclub. Highly recommended and thank you #chaiparty team for a very lovely afternoon. I wish I could post some photos here.
