hosted by Icon of Freedom
Icon of Freedom is delighted to present Taste of Philosophy – a Mexican baroque dining experience inspired by the 17th Century Mexican nun Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz, one of the greatest writers and thinkers of her time.
Guests will get the opportunity to move between the different spaces at Bargehouse, Oxo Tower and savour delicious Mexican flavours from the baroque period and learn more about the life and work of Sor Juana. The baroque period was an important time for the development of Mexican food especially within the convents where nuns from all of over the country shared their family recipes. As part of the experience there will be a Taste of Philosophy fashion show where there will be magnificent outfits displayed made from very unsual materials.
Taste of Philosophy is being created and catered by chefs from the University of Claustro de Sor Juana, one of the best gastronomy schools in Mexico. It is being curated by the Mexican food anthropologist Claudia Prieto.
