A forgettable experience

I attended this course today and was very disappointed.
It was bought for me as a surprise and I was very excited.
But upon arriving at the venue, I was informed the course was actually a hour later then was stated on the booking. The details also said the classes were of 8 maximum. There were 14 in our class! There were only 8 work stations in the kitchen and it was very cramped. We had to work in pairs which wasn't helping in an already cramped environment.
Deena had sorted the ingredients for the starters but the rest of the time we had to find our own ingredients which with so many of us, took time.
I found that I was continual waiting to be able to do anything.
The menu was not very adventurous (as stated on the details). I understand they have to be simple but this was very basic and not fusion.
Whilst Deena did explain the spices and ingredients. I don't feel she spent enough time which each cook as there were so many.
Unfortunately, this course was not value for money.

Simple ingredients with great taste

Deena was a true professional. Explaining and helpful those who had not previously used the ingredients. I liked her passion for helping others and encouraging experimentation in cooking. While the ingredients in the session were simple they were mixed in a way that made the kitchen smell incredible.
Overall a super class. Looking forward to when she runs a class on recipes with Tofu.

I did the class with a friend - we learnt so much from Deena and were able to take the inspiration back to our kitchen and our dishes with great confidence!
Deena's very personable. I've been to other classes and the cooks just talk at you, Deena takes a very different approach!

It's clear Deena has a wealth of knowledge that's she's constantly growing. I didn't know veg cooking could be this limitless, fun and delicious.

You need to get yourself to a class!! I'm taking my Mum to the next..... Thanks Deena!

What a great class! I attended Deena's class in May and it was fabulous. It opened my eyes to new ways of mixing spices and world dishes to make sense arousing dishes.
If you are a vegetarian like me and bored of making the same things over and over again this class is the one for you. Broadening your thinking and tantalising your taste buds. I hope you find this class as exciting as I did. Enjoy it.

Deena Kakaya Vegetarian cooking responded on 14 October 2014:

Thanks so much Tamsin for taking the time to write such a lovely and positive comment, I am so glad that I could share some vegetarian inspiration with you! best wishes, Deena
