In partnership with Riverford, the organic veg box people, I offer seasonal preserving workshops. We cover all the basics of preserving fruits and vegetables and together we make five you can take home.

You will learn about sterilising jars, using sugar, salt and vinegar correctly as preservatives, reaching ‘setting point’ for jams and jellies, safe bottling and more. Class sizes are kept small (max 8 people) and very hands-on. As well as your filled jars, there are recipes and guidance notes to take home.

At the Winter workshops we will make (subject to produce availability):

Seville orange marmelade

Clementine jam

Blood orange & port jelly

Spiced pickled oranges

Moroccan preserved lemons

"Thanks again for such a brilliant day and for sharing your wonderful skills. I can’t believe how much we made and how much I learned in your lovely kitchen!”

"Great fun! My preserves are looking so pretty on my shelf I don’t want to eat them! Thank you again for a fabulous day. Your relaxed but professional style of teaching was just perfect. Looking forward to visiting again.”

"The pace was just right- a good combination of a bit of the science behind preserving, a hands on approach to learning, and the opportunity to chat and discuss. I think the size of the class was ideal.”

An absolutely fantastic memorable day. Anna makes everyone feel so welcome and the course is run in a very professional and friendly informal manner. I learnt so much and it was great to take the products of our day home. Thank you so much!

This is an incredibly inspiring event. Anna is amazing tutor and welcomes you into her home. You get lots of hands on experience with just the right amount of tuition and my confidence has improved to give preserving a go in my own kitchen. I'd highly recommend this workshop.

After a wonderful day that was a treat in itself, I left with a stash of delicious preserves, and the preserving bug. This is the second class I have done with Anna, and enjoyed good company and excellent food on both. Very friendly and informative.

Learning to make marmalade

My daughter and I went along to this preserving workshop in the hopes that we can improve our track record for making good marmalade. Some years it has come out like something to use to fix your car tyre and other years as a sloupy sauce! So we had high expectations which were met by the workshop. We really got close up to the making process because of the small size of the group and the chance to ask lots of questions and see everything as it happened. We also really enjoyed making the other preserves, but the marmalade was the main event for us! Anna and Emma were charming and knowledgeable and the others in the group were really interesting. I would definitely do another preserving workshop, and hope to do one in the fall. Also, I'd like to do the Artisan bread class, as I am still struggling a bit with my own sour dough recipes. We got to taste Anna's sour dough at the delicious lunch they served us.

Thanks for such a fun class! The class was a good size and we were fed breakfast on our arrival sampling some of the lovely preserves that we were to make that day and a lovely lunch! The atmosphere was relaxed with plenty of chat and laughs along the way and was very informative and pragmatic!

Second fun preserving day with Anna

Hands on practical day. Fun and educational with yummy lunch and take home jars of what you've made. Would highly recommend for those with an interest in food and eating. Preserving is pretty easy and makes great gifts for friends. Have used my new skills several times outside the course. Faves so far are chilli jam from autumn course and clementine jam and pickled oranges from winter course. I need to restrain myself from eating for the next month!
