The Secret Kitchen is Culinary Anthropologist's supper club.  20+ people come for dinner in Anna's home. We start with cocktails and canapes and then sit at several communal tables for a seasonal three course feast.  The menu is usually kept secret until the night.

Menus are inspired by Anna's culinary travels, the seasons and her favourite ingredients. Some dinners are collaborations with other chefs and anthropologists who have particular areas of expertise. Each menu tells a story. (Past menus can be found here.)

Guests bring their own wine, for which we provide suggestions with the help of wine writer Victoria Moore. We can cater for most special dietary requirements if given at least a week's notice.

The Secret Kitchen has been running in Highbury since January 2010, and has developed a loyal following.  Every dinner sells out, so book fast if you'd like to come.

Please let us know about any dietary requirements when you make your booking. We can always offer a vegetarian option, but cannot always cater for other special dietary requirements, so do check with us.

Anna Colquhoun is a cooking teacher, food writer and the consultant on BBC Radio 4's The Kitchen Cabinet. She also researches the anthropology of food as a PhD student within the Food Studies Centre at SOAS.

"The Secret Kitchen is my chance to dream up menus full of my favourite things, to celebrate the ingredients at the peak of their season and to tell the stories of my culinary adventures abroad.  I'm very grateful to the many people who have trusted me and come along despite not knowing the menu in advance!"

Fantastic experience

The food was exceptional and the presentation was lovely, but what really put it over the top for me was the wonderfully warm and welcoming atmosphere. It was a cozy and intimate affair- and not for lack of space! Rather, it was just a very friendly, down-to-earth vibe that just let everyone relax and really enjoy the deliciousness on our plates.
